Goodwillion can not stand behind when friends need help. In partnership with Hacker Dojo nearly $6,000 were raised in online charity auctions.
If you are from anywhere near Silicon Valley you probably have already heard about Hacker Dojo, a community of very hacker friendly co-working space in Mountain View, CA and the trouble they got in with the City of Mountain View.
Long story short – city officials in Mountain View ordered Hacker Dojo to comply with city regulations for offices or move out. The cost of meeting demands from the official were around $250,000. In response Hacker Dojo community started a full-fledged fundraising campaign, which included Kickstarter, charity run in underwear, dinners, auctions and more. This helped Hacker Dojo to raise the money needed to renovate its 13,000 square feet warehouse.
Auctions on Goodwillion got covered by VentureBeat, mentioned in NY Times, Wired and many others. Hacker Dojo community boils with creativity, so no wonder that auctions ranged from Skype chat with FAKEGRIMLOCK to on demand freshly baked cake.
Chat with FAKEGRIMLOCK was also the highest-earning auction, who would not want a startup advice from this guy?
